Import Territory Data — KML, GeoJSON, CSV

Upload existing territory outlines in the common formats — and turn them into print-ready maps in minutes.

If you already have territories defined somewhere — in Google Earth, in QGIS, in a spreadsheet, or in another application — you can import the data straight into congrega. All common geo formats are supported, as well as tabular CSV data. From the upload, a complete territory map is generated in just a few minutes.

Which formats work

KML (Google Earth), GeoJSON (QGIS, many web tools), CSV (spreadsheets, Excel exports), and more. CSV supports either coordinates or structured address lists — during import, a mapping step matches your spreadsheet columns to congrega’s fields.

KML from Google Earth

In Google Earth (free) you can draw a territory outline and export it as KML. This is the fastest path if you don’t yet have geo data — no GIS software, no learning curve. Upload the KML to congrega, the rest is automatic.

GeoJSON from QGIS

If you work with QGIS or another GIS tool, export the territory layers as GeoJSON and import them into congrega. Properties such as territory number and name are taken from the GeoJSON properties.

CSV from Excel or spreadsheets

CSV files (e.g. from Excel or Google Sheets) with territory lists and optional coordinates or addresses can also be imported. During import, you choose which column means what — no rigid template, just flexible mapping.

Frequently asked questions

Which geo formats are supported?
KML, GeoJSON, Shapefile, and other common geo formats. If your format isn’t listed, drop us a line — most imports can be set up.
Does it work with CSV too?
Yes. CSV supports tabular data — e.g. a list of territories with number, name, district, and optionally addresses or coordinates. Column mapping is configured during import.
What if my data is incomplete?
No problem — missing fields can be filled in inside the app after import. You don’t need to prepare everything perfectly up front.
Do I get help with the import?
Yes. We actively support the first imports and look through the data with you. Send a short email with a sample file.
