Roles & Permissions — Fine-Grained Access Control

Fine-grained roles and permissions: everyone sees and does exactly what their task calls for — secure, clear, and accountable.

Not everyone should be able to do everything: a publisher needs different rights than a territory servant or overseer. congrega comes with a roles and permissions system that captures exactly that. Roles can be created, given permissions, and assigned to users — so it stays clearly defined who may assign, work, or manage territories.

Predefined and custom roles

Typical roles like overseer, territory servant, and publisher are set up in moments. Beyond that, you can create your own roles and give them exactly the permissions your congregation needs.

Fine-grained permissions

Permissions are fine-grained: manage territories, assign, record completions, maintain users, change settings — each capability can be mapped to a role. So everyone sees only what their task requires.

Secure and accountable

Clear roles prevent accidental changes and protect sensitive data. Whoever doesn’t need access doesn’t get it — an important building block for handling publisher and territory data responsibly.

Adjustable at any time

Responsibilities change — roles can be adjusted or reassigned at any time. When someone takes on a new task, access is updated in seconds, with no data lost.

Frequently asked questions

Does everyone need their own role?
Every user gets a role that determines their rights. Several users can share the same role — e.g. all publishers.
Can I create custom roles?
Yes. Beyond the typical roles, you can create any custom roles and give them appropriate permissions.
Can I limit publishers to their own territories?
Yes. Permissions let you ensure publishers only see their own territories — the rest stays hidden.
What happens when someone leaves the congregation?
You can deactivate or delete their access. The territory history is preserved, but access is revoked immediately.
